Where should the Royal Navy be patrolling: the Persian Gulf, South China Sea or the English Channel?

At a time when literally thousands of people are entering Britain illegally each week, the response by the government is staggeringly ineffectual. We have however recently spent billions of pounds on new warships for the navy. These might be a more effective way of defending our borders than relying upon lifeboats to travel into international waters and bring illegal immigrants ashore.
