An ad campaign by fashion brand Zara, featuring statues wrapped in white, drew protests outside stores by some pro-Palestinian activists who say the images resembled photos of corpses in white shrouds in Gaza. In the Canadian capital of Ottawa, protesters waved flags and chanted, “Free, free Palestine“ at a Zara store in a local mall on December 16. Zara withdrew the ad earlier in the week, in a move that illustrates the challenge for global brands navigating the sensitivities around the Israel-Hamas war.
