Shaolin Luo Han Quan by Shi Yan Ming. Luohan style (罗汉拳) is the oldest and most representative style of Shaolin Kung Fu. The word Luo Han means Buddha / Arhat and refers to those who have achieved enlightenment. Therefore the ultimate goal of the monks of the Shaolin Temple has always been to reach the level of becoming a Luohan. It is the most famous, and one of the most important styles of Shaolin Kung Fu. It is believed that monks in the Shaolin Temple created Luohan Quan by copying the facial expressions of the statues of “Arhats” (saints or sages).
