Packing Up - Eugene Williams (1942-1984)

Eugene Williams was a charismatic musician, singer, composer, and choir director, consumed in a tall slim frame, who dared to stretch boundaries in every aspect of his musical gifts. Willie Thornton and his brother Jesse Williams (along with Eugene Williams and Lee Ida Brown-Campbell) organized a singing group which became known as “Lee Ida Brown-Campbell and The Williams Brothers”. This group of powerfully anointed singers became popular and began to tour the nation. One such invitation to perform came from the Late Reverend James Cleveland, founder of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Williams formed one of the first community choirs in Houston called Eugene Williams and The Houston Interdenominational Choir. His selflessness allowed him to create space, identify and feature other Gospel music giants and influencers.
