Hacking into the secret bacteria | Fatima AlZahra’a Alatraktchi | TEDxAarhus
How do we tune in on bacterial conversations, and can we translate them into human language? Fatima AlZahra’a Alatraktchi has a PhD in nanophysics and molecular biology. She has developed a tool that can capture and decode bacterial messages and thereby save lives.
Researcher and entrepreneur Fatima AlZahra’a Alatraktchi has a PhD in nanophysics and molecular biology. She has conducted research in the intersection between nanoengineering, microbiology and medicine for 6 years. According to Fatima, bacteria live in communities just like humans. They have families, they talk, they plan their activities and sometimes even cheat each other. Fatima developed a nano-sensing technique capable of capturing very small signals that bacteria use to communicate with each other.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
