In this video I will be reading the Russian fairytale called, Репка, “The Little Turnip”. This is a story about teamwork to show us that by helping each other we can accomplish anything.

Reading Russian fairytales can greatly improve your pronunciation, and give you a tactile feel of speaking the language at the same time. This means you must read them aloud and expressively. I mean, what better way than to read a story to a child. And that is exactly how I find myself when reading this story, as if I were telling it to a child.
Since these stories are for children, the words are usually simple, although some Russian stories can still be challenging. If you choose to try this technique yourself, here is a link that has several Russian stories with audio for you to practice with on your own.

When you read them, try to make them sound exciting, because after all, you are telling a story to someone who may be focusing on every word you say.
