The Problem with Horror Anime Discourse
“Horror anime isn’t scary“. I’m sure you’ve heard this before, I’m sure you’ll hear it again, but have you heard much else in the sphere of horror anime discourse? There’s a lack of discussion and analysis of many horror anime and everyone is incredibly pedantic when it comes to defining certain anime as horror. The genre is very broad and includes much more than the most standard examples, there’s also much more horror can do beyond simple scares.
