Crime-plagued Aussie Outback town returns to lockdown-style rules to combat youth violence
Alice Springs has imposed a two-week “youth curfew” one day after a mass brawl involving 150 people, some with weapons, shocked the community.
The curfew will be in force in the town’s center from 6 pm to 6 am for anyone under the age of 18.
The town is a major tourist draw, as the natural monument Ayers Rock is not far away. However, Indigenous violence has been running rampant in the community of 26,000 people.
