Colin Hay - “A Man Without A Name“

“A Man Without A Name“, from Colin’s new album “Now And The Evermore“ 3/18 via Lazy Eye/Compass Records. Pre-order/Pre-save: “Whenever I would mess around with this musical idea, a couple of years ago, Elvis always sprang to mind. Not “Heartbreak Hotel or ‘Hound Dog” Elvis, but Hawaiian shirt wearing, early 60’s movie making Elvis. I’m not sure why the music reminded me of Elvis, but it just did. Then when the lyrics began floating around, I thought perhaps it could be about the ghost of Elvis wandering about the place. He knows he’s important, but the reasons why are not entirely clear to him. I was a little too young to fully appreciate the King when he first burst upon the world, but I came to love that music, and of course from where it came. Sometimes I fall asleep with a Scotty Moore solo on a loop. Such a spirited, timeless sound on those records. Only later did I delve more into where those sounds had originated.
