King Charles delivers moving speech at D-Day ceremony in Portsmouth
King Charles and Queen Camilla joined crowds at Portsmouth this morning to mark the 80th anniversary since the D-Day landings.
He stood not far from some of the country’s last surviving veterans as they looked back on the campaign that opened the path to peace and freedom in Europe.
Wills then took to the stage, saying how honoured he was to be joining them today.
He told the crowds: “I am deeply honoured to join you today to recognise the bravery of all of those like John Haddock who participated in the D-Day landings, the start of the liberation of France and Europe, that led to victory of the Allied Powers.
