A modern interpretation of the first recorded game, inspired by archeological discoveries. The Royal Game of Ur is an epic ancient board game that has been around since 2600 BCE. It came into being as a court game in the ancient Mesopotamia. The game has a 3×8 grid board with 20 squares. The dice used are typically D4, with some alternative solutions existing. An inevitable reality surrounding the game is that due to the historical context, the full rules and the way of playing are largely unknown. Ur: The Royal Game is a project intended to re-interpret and expand upon the existing concept of the Royal Game of Ur.
