Gilead – Spielmannstanz (Thousand Times 2015)

The base of it are two medieval German melodies – Spielmannstanz ( from German “the dance of minstrel“) and Traubentritt ( from German “grape steps“). First one is typical medieval melody. Probably seven thousand years ago troubadours were walking through fairs with their instruments and playing exactly this theme,trying to earn some coins. The second melody is the accompaniment to medieval dance, which is traditionally has place during crushing of grapes and making wine from it. There are accentual notes in this melody which helps us to visualise this action. This melodies are very popular among folk musicians, especially among “German school“. The composition includes two medieval German melodies – Spielmannstanz and Traubentritt, which were performed by troubadours at fairs.
