Wild Mountain Thyme - The Petersens (LIVE)

“Wild Mountain Thyme“ was our favorite song we learned while touring Ireland. It has Scottish origins and there are many different versions out there, but we consulted Pat Kelleher, a friend we met on our first tour, and had him send us his arrangement. Hope you all enjoy it! ►Buy or stream the album ►More inspired by our time in Ireland: Come Ye Sinners Swallowtail Jig Vlog: Our fourth tour ►Photo album: The bower The girls The boys ----------------------- ►Useful links: YouTube About page Most asked questions Join our Patreon community Subscribe to our channel Sign up to our email list Get It Mama Fan Club Show and tour dates Buy or stream our music ►Social media: Instagram Facebook TikTok @petersenband Twitter Band members Go behind the scenes with @ThePetersenFamily ►This video: Lead vocal and guitar: @mattpetersen4000 Harmony vocal and banjo: @EllenHaygood Harmony vocal and mandolin: @JuliannePetersen Fiddle: @katiepetersen Dobro: Emmett Franz Bass: Karen Petersen Key moments: 0:01 fiddle 0:40 guitar 2:45 dobro 2:55 bass 4:40 outro Location: Integrity Hills Chapel This little chapel is European-inspired, and inside people are greeted with incredible picture-postcard views of Table Rock Lake and the Ozarks. And we’ll all go together To pluck wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin’ heather Will you go, lassie, go? I will build my love a bower Near yon pure crystal fountain And on it I will place All the flowers of the mountain Will you go, lassie, go? And we’ll all go together To pluck wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin’ heather Will you go, lassie, go? If my true love, she were gone* I would surely find another Where the wild mountain thyme Grows around the bloomin’ heather Will you go, lassie, go? And we’ll all go together To pluck wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin’ heather Will you go, lassie, go? Will you go, lassie, go? Will you go, lassie, will you go? If you are not familiar with the Scottish landscape: Thyme - a herb Heather - a plant that carpets the ground Lassie - a young woman Bower - a leafy shelter like the one behind Emmett at 1:46 * Fun fact: Traditional Irish musician Francis McPeake came across this folk song on his travels of Scotland, and he rewrote and brought it to Ireland in the 1950s. He dedicated the song to his wife, and his son later added an extra verse to celebrate his father’s second marriage. ►The Petersens: We celebrate American roots music with family values, and perform full time in Branson, Missouri in the USA.
