This is my original song, “Cube Land.“ It was inspired by Minecraft, as well as some stuff I was going through in real life at the time... It’s very special to me, so I hope you enjoy it ^__^ If you came here via Slamacow: Yes, Steven did ask me if he could use the song for his animated video (and yes, I created this song). If you haven’t yet seen his animated version, you can watch it here, he did a really great job!
Special thanks goes out to Dylan Librande (Ecliptichero) for spending hours patiently working with me to record all of the Minecraft footage for the music video (and the Librandes for having us over and being so cool), George Fan for filming some of the live footage and making sure Metroid didn’t go too crazy, Justin Vu (mirrortundra) and Vincent Wang (DualPower) for lending us their maps and helping with the battles, and Astragoth for encouraging me to finish the song. Oh, and Metroid, because he’s in like half of the shots (completely of his own volition^^).
And of course, thank-you to Notch and the Mojang folks for making an awesome game, and C418 for his beautiful score. Congratulations on finishing Minecraft!
Information: I composed/produced the song in Sonar 6 (and on our piano), and all the instrument samples are from Edirol Orchestral, Cakewalk TTS, Roland Groove Synth, and my trusty Triton. Everything is done manually, note-by-note, even the syncopated reverb (no loops either). There are a total of 11 different tracks, and like a million vocal tracks sung separately (they’re all my real vocals... no chorus machines or anything). I edited the video in Adobe Premiere Elements. My compy is several years old, but she worked really hard to export this video! Yes, I anthropomorphize all sorts of inanimate objects.
