Influenced by my constant self-hatred, my gaming addiction, my loneliness, the history of the southern germanic tribes and by a wish to live in a world full of natural beauty and love, I started to take writing music more seriously. All the things I produced before changing the project’s name from “Tekathal“ (even though it was called “Ov Oblivion“ at first) to Winterforst on April 25th, 2013 are not seen as Winterforst releases by me. Anyway, some songs like “Herbst“ or “Der dunkle Wald“ are included in this Best-of. The songs are not listed in any chronological order. My life has changed a lot over the last three years, who have indeed been years of glory, but years of not very glorious acts and of pure hatred too. After 2013, the worst year of my life so far, I have escaped many pathways that would have led me into my own demise. I was breaking free of many things that held me back. I do not regret any of the choices I’ve made, even though some were difficult. My future looks bright today, and the worries that have been infesting my soul seem to fade. There is not much to say about the songs, expect that I put “A Secret Pathway To The Past“ at the end, because over the last three months, it has become a very personal song, and I wanted it to be the grand finale of the Best-of, since it has probably the best lyrics I’ve ever written. The upcoming pagan metal album is going to be released in October 2015. The cover picture, showing myself, was taken in the forest next to where I live in February 2014.
