Macron, Scholz, Draghi arrive in Kiev to show support

French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi arrived in Kiev on Thursday ahead of a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The leaders are meeting in preparation for a European Union summit next week and an upcoming NATO summit later in the month. The foremost topics of discussion are likely to be Ukraine’s request for EU candidate status and efforts to restart talks for a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Macron later took center stage as the three leaders staged a walkthrough in Irpin as a show of support for Ukraine. At least this time he didn’t dress up as Zelensky for the cameras.
