Aero Legends Douglas C-47B Dakota IV, KP220, G-ANAF made a surprise appearance at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford on Thursday 9 November 2023, conducting a low level flypast and break, while en route from its base at Headcorn, Kent for a temporary winter stay at RAF Coningsby with the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The Battle of Britain Memorial flight’s (BBMF) Dakota, is currently at Duxford with the Aircraft Restoration Company for a major service which is now expected to be completed in March 2024, so G-ANAF/KP220 is taking its place for the winter months on display in the BBMF hangar at RAF Coningsby and will be used by RAF BBMF pilots and crews for pre-season multi-engine tail-wheel flying currency and training, prior to flying the BBMF’s Lancaster PA474.
