A new material changes color as it becomes a superconductor | Science News
Scientists claim to have found a superconductor that works at room temperature and relatively low pressure. If true, that might make it suitable for use in real-world devices. As scientists increase the pressure on the compound, made of hydrogen, lutetium and nitrogen, it changes from blue to pink. This signifies the material changing to a superconductor, in which electricity flows without resistance. Further increasing the pressure causes it to change to red, as it loses its superconducting properties.
