Karadaiyan Nombu is a Tamil Brahmin festival/pooja wherein married Tamil women pray for longevity and well-being of their husbands. This celebration marks the end of the Maasi (Tamil Month) and beginning of Panguni. Manjal saradu is tied at the auspicious moment. Married women fast on that prepare a special (Karadai) sweet/vella adai and savory/uppu adai. Sweet adai is made of roasted rice rava/rice flour, cowpeas (black eyes peas), jaggery and coconut. It is eaten hot with butter. Savory/kara adai is prepared with rice flour, cow peas, ginger, green chillies and coconut. Both are offered to the Goddess.
I have used specially prepared rice flour for making uppu adai. This video will show you a simple way to make both vella adai and uppu adai.
