Catastrophe in France: maddened rivers wash away everything

Reviews of weather events, natural disasters, astronomical phenomena and wildlife around the world France has been in the grip of floods for the second day, which were caused by a cyclone with endless streams of rain that hit the mainland. The downpours caused extensive flooding in various parts of the country and blocked traffic on the highways connecting populated areas. The water in the towns flowed down the streets in a continuous stream and in some places rose higher than the roofs of cars. Cars parked in parking lots floated and sank, and were carried away with the streams of water somewhere into the distance to the bridges, where they twisted and broke. A “red“ warning, the highest level of danger, was introduced in six departments of the country at once. Even the railway service in the Rhone department between the cities of Lyon and Saint-Etienne was closed due to erosion and flooding of the railway track. The overflow of numerous rivers, especially in the east of the Upper Loire, provoked a real catastrophe for the country. In the Ardèche department, all roads were closed and people were asked not to drive their cars anywhere, to avoid getting lost along with their equipment on the road. In the heavily flooded city of Annone, children were urgently evacuated from kindergartens and schools. The Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport has been closed for the second day, and there were mass cancellations of flights there. The river waters burst onto the main A47 highway near Lyon, washing away both cars and the farm animals grazing nearby! The government has already sent additional firefighting forces from other regions to the affected areas of the country to restore the infrastructure battered by the downpours. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, France will be busy counting the losses incurred from the bad weather, but for now, the catastrophic floods continue. #flood #France #flooding
