The Most Technical Karate Master Hideo Sensei

Hideo Ochi, known for his bald head and long white beard, is both a genial grandfather figure and one of JKA’s finest fighters. As a three-time JKA All Japan Grand Champion, he commands respect as a charismatic instructor worldwide. Ochi’s influence extended beyond Japan. In 1970, he became the National Coach of the German Karate Federation (DKB), transforming Germany into a prominent kumite nation. Despite facing initial challenges, Ochi settled in Freiburg and established himself as the Chief Instructor for JKA Europe. After retiring from competition, Ochi focused on promoting a more traditional approach to Karate. He founded the DJKB (Deutscher JKA-Karate Bund), attracting thousands of Karatekas seeking a return to traditional values. Beyond Karate, Ochi engages in charitable work, supporting destitute athletes and various causes worldwide. Alongside his wife, Tomie, he financed an orphanage in Cambodia and actively contributes to education and humanitarian efforts. Hide
