Is There a ’Moderate’ Islam?

Two Muslim intellectuals, Irshad Manji and Mohammed Dajani, discuss the future of moderate Islam at a time when extremists perpetrate violence in the name of the faith. Mohammed Dajani is the Weston Fellow at The Washington Institute and founder of the Wasatia movement of moderate Islam. A political scientist with doctoral degrees from the University of Texas and the University of South Carolina, he established the American Studies Program at al-Quds University in Jerusalem. Irshad Manji is the founder and director of the Moral Courage Project at New York University, author of the books Allah, Liberty, and Love (2011) and The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim’s Call for Reform in Her Faith (2004), and creator of the Emmy-nominated PBS documentary Faith Without Fear.
