One-year anniversary of Seoul crowd crush

Seoul’s popular nightlife district is quiet this Halloween, one year after 159 people died in a crowd crush. The usually bustling area was covered in posters and flowers remembering those who died last year. The tragic incident was blamed on a lack of preparation and crowd control measures. Authorities referred 23 officials for prosecution. Local authorities have been conducting crowd control drills ahead of the anniversary but most of those celebrating Halloween spent the night in other parts of the city.
