ATHENS 2019 - Body camera footage released Wednesday by the Athens Police Department shows an officer shooting a 28-year-old man on Oct. 5. Before being shot multiple times, the man appears to lunge toward the officer with a large knife or machete. The officer-involved shooting occurred at about 5 p.m. at the University Gardens Apartments on Baxter Drive.
