Chopin / Alexander Slobodyanik, 1972: Etudes, Op. 25, Nos. 1 and 2

The late Ukrainian pianist Alexander Slobodyanik (1942-2008) performs the first two etudes from Chopin’s Op. 25. From the extremely rare LP you see above, recorded in what was then the USSR by Melodiya and distributed abroad under the Angel label, catalogue number SR-40205. This recording was released by Angel in 1972; it is possible that the recording was made earlier than that. Slobodyanik’s NYT obituary can be reviewed here:
