ARIEL Live-Action References in Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ (1989) COMPARISON

No, it wasn’t just Alyssa Milano or our beloved Jodi Benson who helped inspire Ariel, but Sherri Stoner who was literally the face of the underwater heroine in Disney’s animated classic ‘The Little Mermaid.’ I mean, just look at the reference footage, and that’s Ariel’s exact eyes and expressions! It’s really her essence, especially Glen Keane’s animation. It’s beyond impressive that this films crew was able to visualize this film with so little at their disposal. Poor Sherri spent the entire time filming in a red bathing suit 🥶 Still it must have been the best job ever to give life and movement to this iconic redhead, and I still need to see anything related to her modeling work for Belle!
