Northern Spain sees major floods following Storm Barra

The River Arga in Spain’s northern region of Navarre broke its banks in the town of Villava on Friday, flooding streets and leaving many homes submerged under water with only their roof tops visible. Local media reported regional authorities were still quantifying the damage in Navarre caused by Storm Barra, adding the floods generated by the River Arga are the worst in 20 years. People also waded through flood waters and used inflatable boats in Pamplona, the capital of the region of Navarre, on Friday as the storm disrupted northern Spain, flooding streets and entire neighbourhoods.
