it was only a matter of time EDIT: 5 years, 45k views, and likes later and I am absolutely still taken aback by how much this video blew up. It really means a lot to me. Utena has always had a special place in my heart and was one of my very first animes as a kid. It’s something I always go back to no matter how long it’s been. The love story, narrative, the dismantling of and analysis of fairy tale archetypes, the role that abuse and the patriarchy plays in peoples’ lives and how it forms their views, and the characters themselves, have always stuck with me.
