Recorded by Tina Charles as an anonymous session singer, Help Me Make It Through The Night is one of three songs she performed that appear on the 1975 cover version compilation Smash Hits Country Style No.4. The other two tracks are I’m Leaving It All Up To You and a newly-discovered version of Olivia Newton-John’s Let Me Be There It is not clear whether the tracks on this album were specially recorded for this release, or come from earlier hit covers albums. I expect the latter to be the case, as the same tracks were often reused across different releases.
