Collaborating with lyricist Bernie Taupin since 1967 on more than 30 albums, John has sold over 300 million records, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He has more than fifty Top 40 hits in the UK Singles Chart and US Billboard Hot 100, including nine number ones in the UK and nine in the US, as well as seven consecutive number-one albums in the US. His tribute single “Candle in the Wind 1997“, rewritten in dedication to Diana, Princess of Wales, sold over 33 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling chart single of all time. According to Billboard in 2019, John is the top solo artist in US chart history (third overall), and the top Adult Contemporary artist of all time “Nikita“ is a love song by English singer Elton John set in the Cold War from his nineteenth studio album, Ice on Fire (1985). It was released as the album’s lead single, reaching the top 10 in many countries. In the song, John describes his crush on a person called Nikita, an East German border guard whom he cannot meet because he is not allowed into the country. It features George Michael on backing vocals and Nik Kershaw on guitar. The song charted at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart, and at number 7 in the US. In the Netherlands it reached the Top 40 on 9 November 1985 de Top 40 and kept the number one position for 9 weeks..
