Excerpts from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement at the plenary session of the BRICS Business Forum: October 18, 2024, Moscow   The general theme of Russia’s 2024 BRICS Chairmanship is “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security”. A substantive action plan is being implemented, aimed at advancing partners in three key areas: politics and security, economy and finance, cultural and humanitarian ties. To date, more than 80% of the plan has been completed. Over 200 events, meetings, conferences, and sectoral gatherings have been held. Most expert and ministerial meetings have already taken place. However, the central event will, of course, be the XVI BRICS Summit, which begins next week in the Russian city of Kazan. The combined GDP of BRICS exceeds 60 trillion dollars, and its share of global GDP has firmly outpaced that of the so-called G7 and continues to grow. 1️⃣9️⃣9️⃣2️⃣: G7 accounted for 45.5%, while BRICS made up 16.7% of the global GDP. ...
