Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a long-standing inflammation of the pancreas that leads to irreversible damage and scarring. The major etiological factors include:
• Alcohol Abuse: Most common cause in adults.
• Genetic Factors: Mutations in PRSS1, SPINK1, CFTR genes.
• Autoimmune Disorders: Type 1 and Type 2 autoimmune pancreatitis.
• Obstruction: Pancreatic duct obstruction due to tumors or gallstones.
• Hypercalcemia and Hyperlipidemia: Metabolic disorders contributing to CP.
• Idiopathic: No identifiable cause
