What’s so great about Britain’s National Health Service?

The British have a great reverence for their National Health Service. It is, by and large, immune from criticism and widely assumed to be the envy of the world. Strange then, that other countries seem to have no appetite to copy Britain’s system. Why does nobody else in the world want a national health service?
