Basarabia pe Cruce - (Romanian Song about Bessarabia)

(For English subtitles, turn on YouTube subtitles) ●▬▬▬▬▬✦⋆English⋆✦▬▬▬▬▬● “Basarabia pe Cruce“ (Crucified Bessarabia), it’s a Romanian song about historical region of Bessarabia. The song was written by Tudor Gheorghe, also sung by him. Bessarabia is a region in Eastern Europe that appeared in 1812 after the Russian Empire annexed more than half of the territory of the Principality of Moldavia. Moldavia at that time was a vassal state of the Ottomans, having its own leader (Prince). The Prince chose to be on the side of the Russian Empire in the Russo-Turkish War of 1806-1812, despite this fact, Russia annexed territories of Moldavia, and western Moldavia remained a vassal state of the Ottomans. Bessarabia remained under the control of the Russian Empire until 1917, after it gained its independence after the fall of the Empire during the Russian Revolution, at the same time, the Romanian Army occupied the region at the request of politicians in the region (Sfatul Țării) who feared a possible Bolshevik Revolution. A year later, on 27th March, 1918, Sfatul Țării voted for the Union of Bessarabia with the Kingdom of Romania. Bessarabia was part of Romania until 1940 when the Russians (the Soviets at that time) annexed it again after the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact was signed in 1939. In 1941, Romania joined the Axis side by invading the USSR with the hope that it would recover the lost territories but in the end, the Axis lost the war. Bessarabia, which after 1940 was known as Moldova, remained under Soviet occupation until 1991, when the USSR fell apart. Currently, the Republic of Moldova is a country stuck between 2 worlds due to Russian influence and Transnistria conflict. ●▬▬▬▬▬✦⋆Română⋆✦▬▬▬▬▬● “Basarabia pe Cruce“, este un cântec românesc despre regiunea istorică Basarabia. Cântecul a fost scris de Tudor Gheorghe, de asemenea cântat tot de el. Basarabia este o regiune din Europa de Est care a apărut în 1812 după ce Imperiul Rus a anexat mai mult de jumătate din teritoriul Principatului Moldovei. Moldova era la acea vreme un stat vasal al otomanilor, având propriul conducător (Principe). Principele a ales să fie de partea Imperiului Rus în războiul ruso-turc din 1806-1812, în ciuda acestui fapt, Rusia a anexat teritoriile Moldovei, iar vestul Moldovei a rămas un stat vasal al otomanilor.
