The Romanov sisters were the most photographed princesses of their day, yet the world knew very little of the four girls in the official portraits. The daughters of Nicholas and Alexandra have often been considered nothing more than the pretty backdrop to the larger and more dramatic story of their parents and tragic hemophiliac brother Alexey. Despite what portraits depict and behind the dutiful image existed four very vibrant and fascinating and most of all, distinct, personalities. A two-part series focusing on Tsar Nicholas II’s four daughters - Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia - combining interviews with leading historians, stunning archive footage, and dramatic reconstruction to reveal the real girls behind the fairy-tale images.
