This 1970s promotional film, which takes place at Rudy Schmid’s Body Shop, shows viewers how easy and cost effective it is to build your own Dune Buggy. The film goes through all steps from finding the right car as a base, to applying the kit, and driving it around yourself. It features extensive footage of the outside and inside of the VW Beetle and the step-by-step remodeling done on it. The film was directed by Larry Wood, with cinematography by James Underwood and Phil Hagadorn. It was narrated by Jack Shannon with technical assistance by Paul Schmid. Note: it’s not clear if Larry Wood is the same man who designed the famed Hot Wheels dune buggy the Baja Bug, but it seems quite likely!
