Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs reveal that gonorrhea exited throughout their existence, and they treated it using painkillers (01:37). Columbus and his sailors, exemplified in mosaic art, were the most probable cause for syphilis reaching Europe (01:50). 18th-century paintings reveal how fashion was influenced by syphilis (02:10), such as wigs to hide hair loss (02:16) and neck clothes to cover throat sores (02:20). Henry VIII, Ivan the Terrible, and Adolf Hitler are some world leaders who were infected with syphilis (02:30). Hectic streets portray ordinary people walking through their city (02:48). James Brolin introduces a VD specialist (03:18) and the specialist explains what VD means, how it is transmitted, and how it infects men and women differently (03:28). Two boys walk beside a horse enclosure while speaking about VD (05:20). James Brolin describes the treatment of VD (05:29). Two young women are looking up gonorrhea in a dictionary (05:50), and three young men in a mechanic shop worry about having contracted VD (06:25).
