Police officers train emergency driving at a practice track (00:38). A Plymouth Belvedere and a Plymouth Fury are used for the training (00:38). Officers demonstrate safe fast turnarounds (00:57). An officer provides theoretical instructions on safe fast turnarounds for students in a classroom (01:03). He explains proper road positions of the car (01:15). A police car makes a turnaround on the practice track to demonstrate the instructions given to the students (01:47). The classroom lesson continues with detailed instructions on navigating in reverse and correct piloting of the steering wheel (02:03). A police officer is filmed inside the vehicle to demonstrate this (02:14). A semi bootleg turn is demonstrated on the practice track as students observe (02:22). The classroom lesson continues with instructions on safely orientating in a semi bootleg turn (03:20). A police officer is filmed inside the vehicle to demonstrate this (03:29). Students observe from the sidelines on the practice track (03:41).
One police car overtakes another car while the sirens and emergency lights are on (03:44). An officer speaks on the car radio inside the car, while a student observes in the back seat (03:56). A demonstration on the practice track reveals that police sirens aren’t dependable in alarming other vehicles on the road at certain speeds (04:25). The sirens are only heard when the police car is driving alongside the other vehicle (04:35). Cars are struggling to drive on a part of the track called the ‘Skid Pan’, which is covered with soap and water to make it slippery (04:53). A classroom of students learns about safe emergency driving on ‘Skid Pan” conditions, such as road position, steering control, etc. (05:17). Students attempt driving on the ‘Skid Pan’ track while instructing officers overserve and comment on the mistakes (05:58). Another classroom lesson is held on precision driving at high speeds (07:34). An officer demonstrates the lesson on the practice track with a student in the passenger seat (08:00) A narrow lane is formed by cones as a precision driving-challenge (08:14).
