Caterpillar Inc. remains one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction equipment. The company originated from a merger between Holt Manufacturing Company and C. L. Best Tractor Company. It is headquartered in Irving, Texas. The film was made ’s and was shot in various locations: Florida, Southern Illinois, Kansas, Washington State, New York, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Dryden, Texas. The film opens by showing the village of the Aztec Gold Mine in Baldy, New Mexico at 0:38. The film then shows how the mine cars operate at 0:52. Two 125-horsepower diesel engines that drive all of the machinery at the mill are shown at 1:37. The mud pump is shown at 2:00. The four units operate on “75 cents of fuel an hour” at 2:08. In the Southern Illinois oil field, two 6-cylinder engines drive a sludge pump, draw works, and a rotary drill on 36 cents worth of fuel an hour at 2:29. A diesel powered generator runs everything from lights to the ice cream machine at a drugstore in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, shown at 9:09.
