APOLLO LUNAR MODULE PREPARATIONS FOR SPACE FLIGHT MANNED SPACECRAFT OPERATIONS BUILDING 54594

This silent footage shows preparation of the ascent stage of a Lunar Module at NASA’s Eastern Test Range in Florida. The LM is moved through the building on a crane. The location is almost certainly the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building on Merritt Island, Florida, which is where the spacecraft would have been mated with the Lunar Module Adapter. The film is not dated, so it’s not possible to identify which LM is shown. The Lunar Module (LM) – originally called the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) and still pronounced “lem” after the name was changed – was the spacecraft that allowed the Apollo astronauts to land on the Moon. The Lunar Module (LM) was built by the Grumman Corporation in Bethpage, NY.
