“Bleeding Earth“ is an original composition by Thanasis Kleopas, the Wandering Melodist, on the ancient lyre, and Tolis Preponis on yayli tambur. It is the outcry of Mother Earth that we so willingly mistreat through the decades leading us, the human race, gradually to our extinction.
Thanasis sings and plays on a custom LUTHIEROS ancient lyre, masterfully handcrafted for him in Greece by the Koumartzis family.
The video session took place inside the Akron Art Centre, an exquisite art workshop in Santorini Island, Greece.

🎶 🇬🇧 Lyrics in English
I was buried under cement,
struggling for a breath,
can no longer see the sun
locked away, I am kept.
They buried me deep,
deep in the darkness,
marked with wounds,
they made me their target.
Oh, I am deeply thirst,
thirsty for rainwater,
for flowing rivers
to wash my pain away.
For loving humans
to gently lie on me,
for chilly breezes
to embrace me sweetly.
Oh, how I wish
for they to let me grow
flowers and plants
to beautify the earth once again.
But the only thing they value,
are their pockets to be full,
so they keep me underneath,
no light for me anymore.
I became a desert land,
I sigh; I am in pain,
but people seem to be deaf,
not hearing, not caring.
They congratulate each another,
while forgetting mother earth,
not able to respect,
the land they stand on.
