Ives: Symphony No. 4 ’Fugue’ - Stokowski conducts (3 of 4)

Leopold Stokowski and the American Symphony Orchestra gave the World Premiere of Charles Ives’s 4th Symphony in Carnegie Hall, New York, on 26 April 1965. A few days later they played it again for a filmed performance that was relayed on TV. Here is the third movement ’Fugue’ which is based on a String Quartet movement subtitled ’A Revival Meeting’ and features the hymns ’From Greenland’s Icy Mountains’ and ’All Hail the Power.’ Assisting Stokowski in the conducting of this complex work was Jose Serebrier,
