U-S troops moved into the southeast Kosovo town of Gnjilane on Sunday to secure a position for what will become a base for 600 marines.
The area lies in the U-S-designated sector for NATO’s K-FOR peacekeeping force.
The marines flew in with helicopters and positioned soldiers in nearby fields, wary of passing convoys of Serb trucks carrying soldiers and ammunition on their way out of Kosovo.
