LIVE: US top military to testify before Senate Armed Services Committee on Afghanistan

Mandatory Credit: US Senate Committee on Armed Services US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin, Chairperson of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley and United States Central Command’s head General Kenneth McKenzie are set to testify before the Senate Armed Services Committee on the conclusion of military operations in Afghanistan and plans for future counterterrorism operations on Tuesday, September 28. The last US servicemen left Afghanistan after an almost 20-year long mission shortly before midnight on August 30. The complete withdrawal of US troops out of the country took place following the Taliban takeover of power several weeks beforehand.​
