Hania Rani & Dobrawa Czocher – Malasana (Official Music Video) Listen to ’Inner Symphonies’: The director Mateusz Miszczyński was responsible for writing the story and directing the music video for the song “Malasana“. We’ve been working with and have been friends with Mateusz for years, and together we share the need to address topics that seem important and personal to us. From the very beginning, we knew that we wanted to tell the story through the eyes of children. The subject of the video was supposed to touch on war and migration problems, dressed in metaphorical clothes, with elements of magical realism, which in a subtle but effective way will distract us from literalism and make the whole thing universal, beyond political character. Director’s notes : “The moment the children asked who would play the father was the moment I realized, so emphatically, that there is no such thing as a universal, context-free story about a war. That always, even in the garments of a metaphor, draws from someone else’s experiences and traumas. And as it turned out in the case of our film, their source could not have been closer, more tangible. And while I can only speak for myself, I think it was clearly felt that this awareness was permeating the entire team on the set.“ We are very grateful to Madina’s family for this time and experience, and for how they created this film with great openness and cheerfulness. And if there’s the power of this music video somewhere, we think it’s in there. The video was created in cooperation with the Papaya production house. Jakub Stoszek is responsible for the cinematography. The video was shot on the 11 and 12 of October 2021, near the village of Bilwinowo in the Suwałki Region in Poland.
