Epic Seal Rescue - Must Watch

This rescue is what we have been training for. Naude and Antoine spotted a seal in dire need of help. There was a thick role of fishing line wrapped around her neck. But she was also very far away, she was on the other side of a little valley, on the rocks, behind other rocks, amongst thousands of seals, all of them were expected to run into the water once we started chasing them. Originally we wanted to record it as entanglement sighting, which is code for impossible rescue due to the location or size of a seal. But we tried anyways, luckily. To us, this was probably our most intense rescue so far. It involved 2 hours of observing and planning, a long stalk, an accidental seal attack from above, some slipping on the rocks with cuts and bruises for Naude, and Katja and the kids on the walkway on watch to report any movement of the entangled seal, to make sure we would not lose sight.
