Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, BWV 106 Cantata “Actus Tragicus“. Composed by J.S. Bach, arranged for piano solo by Fanny Hensel. I came across this arrangement somewhat by accident - I was perusing piano pieces by Fanny Hensel for Women’s History Month, and found a set of 3 Klavierstücke. It didn’t click right away that what I was playing was an arrangement of a famous, early Bach Cantata, but I thought I’d include it in this month’s series nevertheless. The piece is titled: Introduction to the cantata: “God’s time is the very best time“ by Sebastian Bach, and is dedicated to Julius Elsasser.
