Skiing gone wrong - One and One-Half Hip Spica Plaster Cast

It is a slow day for the nurses in the hospital, until a patient is wheeled in. Ryan is in pain from a work accident. The nurses start to examine him quickly, and X-rays soon reveal that he has a fractured femur. As the bone is still mostly aligned, a hip spica is prescribed for treatment. The nurses expertly set his leg and immobilize him in a large 1.5 hip spica. Once they are satisfied with their work, they transfer Ryan to a hospital bed to rest and let the cast dry. Over the next few days the nurses monitor him during their rounds. Once nurse in particular seems to take extra interest in Ryan, spending extra attention on him, making sure he is comfortable, and that his cast is not causing any irritation. The head nurse notices this attention and scolds her for her over enthusiastic and less than professional efforts. They transfer him to a wheelchair to accustom him to being pushed around.
