La Vuelta 2023, Stage 19 (La Bañeza - Íscar), course, route, profile, animation

“Friday, 15 September The 19th stage of the Vuelta starts in La Bañeza and ends after 177.1 kilometres in Íscar. On paper, a godsend for the sprinters. But also in practice? In the south of the province of León lies La Bañeza, a city with a Roman history. But it also has a Vuelta history, because in 1989 the fifth stage started in this city. Back then, the stage covered 247 kilometres and Eddy Planckaert was crowned the winner that day. This time the route is much shorter, 177 kilometres are on the programme. That’s only fair after almost three weeks of racing. The profile should not be scary either, as the number of metres in altitude is less than 1,000. Despite the lack of altitude metres, the question is whether the sprinter teams are in a sprinting mood. Are they still fresh enough to support their sprinter, or is he already at home after all those climbs? The finish is in the province of Valladolid, in the town of Íscar. The Vuelta has never arrived there before, so the winner will have a first. No one has ever won a Vuelta stage in Íscar.“ ( & Routes ’n’ Maps ’n’ Flags) Creating cycling stage animations requires a lot of work and computing power.
