“Tuesday, 29 August The 4th stage of the Vuelta is 184.9 kilometres long and has two climbs in the last 60 kilometres. The rest of the route is flat to hilly. The last summit is more than 30 kilometres before the finish, after that it is mainly downhill. The start is in Andorra la Vella, the capital of Andorra. The riders leave the dwarf state and then the Pyrenees on slightly ascending roads. After about 60 kilometres the roads become a bit hillier and over a slight climb the Vuelta reaches Ponts, where Alejandro Valverde won another UCI Gravel World Series race in June. After 120 kilometres, the riders reach the Alto de Belltall, which is climbed from the north side. The climb is 9.3 kilometres long and has an average gradient of 3.7%. With a maximum gradient of 7.7%, this is not too difficult a climb. The descent that follows is almost 20 kilometres long. After passing the town of Montblanc, the riders reach the Coll de Lilla. With a length of 4.9 kilometres and a gradient of 5.2%, this climb is not very scary either. After the summit, it’s another 30.6 kilometres to the finish in Tarragona. For the most part, the route is downhill. The Catalan city has often been the venue of the Vuelta. No less than thirteen times the race ended in Tarragona.
